The drug outreach success rate at Shattered Lives is very high. Our dedicated team has reached out to numerous drug abusers within the community and we have helped many with their drug addictions.
Our approach to drug rehabilitation incorporates the MERS philosophy.
Motivate – The most important aspect of trying to help a drug abuser move toward successful recovery is to give them a reason that is more alluring than the “high” that they feel from using drugs. This is the hardest part of drug rehabilitation but is definitely the most significant for the drug user; as this motivation will be the catapult and the foundation for the journey to recovery. Our drug rehabilitation team that is made up of paid staff and volunteers, including ex drug addicts, dedicate a lot of time to individual cases; to find out as much as possible about individual clients that we work with to ensure we have a comprehensive understanding of the person that we are helping.
Educate – Once we motivate the drug abuser, we expansively talk them through all aspects of drug effects and repercussions. The information that we provide includes physical effects of individual substances and also cognitive affects. We also talk through and encourage a two way discussion about all aspects of individual drugs. Some of our past clients came to us already having a basic understanding of drugs, however most confirm that the information that we provided them, and the educational methods that we used gave them a more complete understaning.
Rehabilitate – Once we have taken our clients through the first two stages of our drug rehabilitation program, we consider each individual case and conclude the best action plan for them. Our recommended actions are dependent on the severity of the individual with the drug problem. Our action plans often include partner companies and various specialist organizations that we collaboratively work with or refer clients to.
Back into society – Our partner and associated group companies which include education providers and job agencies, provide opportunities for helping ex drug offenders rebuild their lives. Companies that we work with also include government organizations, funding companies, religious institutions and other various groups.
We also work with ex drug offenders by providing support right through an arrest to sentencing and prison time.
